A once vacant property has been transformed into a luxury master-planned community just 10 minutes outside of downtown Baltimore, Maryland. Greenleigh at Crossroads, is the largest example of “new urbanism” in the area, fusing together residential with nearby commercial, retail and hospitality developments.

betsafe review McLaren Engineering Group structurally engineered Greenleigh’s architecturally exposed wood-framed clubhouse that flaunts a contemporary urban design. The 1-story wood-framed building, about 30-ft tall at the highest point, consists of an open space main betsafe casino review event room with architecturally exposed heavy timber framing and large glazed windows. McLaren performed structural engineering services for the design of the Clubhouse’s wood-framed sloped roof, walls and foundations. Concealed plate bolted connections and offset cross-bracing were utilized to eliminate the need for intermediate gusset plates and enhance the contemporary urban design. To help with the aesthetic integrity of the members and connections, McLaren engineered and detailed the CMU framed chimney and architecturally exposed:

  • Glulam trusses that spans 39-ft and cantilever 11-ft
  • Glulam beam, columns, and beam-to-column connections
  • Tie-rod cross bracing, which formed part of the building’s lateral system

In 2019, Greenleigh at Crossroads was named Community of the Year by the Maryland Building Industry Association.
